Robert J Brown

After graduating in Gas Engineering and Fuel Science from Leeds University, Bob Brown entered the UK gas industry in 1964 and subsequently held a number of senior management positions in engineering, customer service, sales and marketing in the British Gas Corporation and, following privatisation, British Gas plc. During this time, he was:

  • responsible for the conversion to natural gas of over 1 million customers in the East Midlands,
  • influential in improving substantially the public perception of British Gas as a service provider, and
  • the head of the joint Anglo-French team that developed the power generation facility to provide electricity, hot & chilled water to customers of the Corporation of London.

In more recent years, he has been actively involved, initially through NRG Energy Inc of the USA and, later, through Carlton Power Limited of the UK and Petco International of the USA, in leading efforts to create and develop business opportunities for energy related investments in Europe and the Middle East.

Now Bob is an independent Business Management Consultant.
